.... than watching the Return of the Jedi on laserdisc on a 65 inch TV, all that in my C3po/R2D2 pyjamas, with my wife and a good bottle of wine!

Kinja'd!!!

Not ANY laserdisc either... The Return of the Jedi from the very best Star Wars Trilogy edition commercially available (appart from the 1979 VHS of the Last Hope, which does indeed have great colors and which I also have... But I prefer the Definitive Collection)

Kinja'd!!!

As always, that was AWESOME!

Last time I’ve seen a laserdisc was 18 years ago on a projector, I remember being blown away as a kid, probably 8-9 at the time. How do they look on a modern tv?

YES

I bought the Definitive Collection Laserdisc set when The Force Awakens came out, along with a reasonably high end LD player. It’s not Blu-Ray or even DVD, but I was really impressed with the quality nonetheless. The big impression that I got was that all the ‘90s computer graphic effects in the Special Edition have aged far worse than the practical effects that they replaced!

Also, from a technical geekery standpoint, there’s nothing quite like a CAV Laserdisc when it comes to frame-by-frame access; I had great fun shuttling back and forth to get a closer look at the more interesting scenes.

I have actually... Problem is that proper Japanese subtitles only work on TESB and the other 2 films don’t have full ones (just the beginning)... My wife speaks English well but she sometimes struggles to follow movies without subs, so we had to watch the LD version :)

I am interested, problem would be shipping cost from the US to Japan for a couple hundred movies... Also I get them for 1$ each and there are A LOT available in Japan as Laserdiscs were very popular in here...
